a. Choose appropriate plant growth regulator

Different kinds of plant growth regulators will have different regulating effects on plants, for example, some of them will have promoting effect, some of them will have inhibiting effect and the other of them may have delaying effect; besides, different tree species will have different reactions with the same kind of plant growth regulator. Therefore, in the fruit tree production, we should choose appropriate plant growth regulators in different fruit trees, or it will not obtain the expected effect, will cause harm or poison on fruit trees and will cause economic loss on fruit farmers.

b. Use appropriate concentration

By using different concentrations, it will have different influence on fruit trees. Plant growth regulator will usually have double effect on the growth and development of plant. Therefore, by choosing appropriate concentration, we can obtain expected effect. If the concentration is too low, it will almost have no effect on plant, while if the concentration is too high, it will inhibit the growth of fruit trees and will even kill them.

As different kinds of plant growth regulators will have different effects on different fruit trees and the same kind of plant growth regulator will have different effects on different parts of the same fruit tree, we should confirm the processing parts of fruit trees according to different kinds of plant growth regulators, trees and use purpose. As plant growth regulator can only have effect on the specific links in the growth and development stage of plant, it will not achieve ideal effect if it is used too early or too late. Therefore, we should confirm appropriate processing time according to different varieties, concentrations, pesticide effect duration and cultivation demands.

d. Choose correct application method

Plant growth regulator can be used in many ways, including spraying, soaking, smearing, irrigating and so on, in which spraying is the most commonly used method. We should choose proper application methods and dosage forms according to different use purposes. Generally speaking, water aqua can be used in spraying, powder can be used in dipping or being mixed with seeds so as to reduce the usage amount of drugs and control the appropriate concentration of drugs.

e. Properly mix pesticides

In fruit production, sometimes we need to solve several problems at the same time, therefore, we can mix several plant growth regulators or can mix plant growth regulator with pesticide or fertilizer so as to improve pesticide effect and promote fruit tree production.

f. Pay attention to the interaction of different kinds of agricultural technologies

Although plant growth regulator can have certain physiological regulating effect on the growth and development of plant, it cannot replace fertilizer, pesticide or other tillage measures as it cannot be used as the nutrient substance of plant. Therefore, in order to achieve ideal effect, when using plant growth regulator, it should be coordinated with other agricultural methods.

g. Pay attention to the residual toxicity problem of plant growth regulator

Although most of plant growth regulators have low toxicity, some of them may do harm to human health as they can enter human body through various ways. Therefore, we should take measures so as to reduce the residue of plant growth regulator.

Below are some main methods:

a. Use hormones of animal and plant body;

b. Use plant growth regulators that have low toxicity and can decompose rapidly in plant body and soil;

c. When using the commonly used plant growth regulators, we should not increase application frequency or concentration at will so as to ensure safety;

d. Improve pesticide effect and reduce dosage.
